The Christmas markets have been canceled due to the Corona, individual lard biscuit stalls and children's carousels are lost in the usual places.

People seem to miss not only strolling through the markets, but also enjoying the communal mulled wine.

In Hamburg, some have now found a way out, but it has met with criticism.

As the "Hamburger Morgenpost" reports, groups meet on the street "Schule" in the Schanzenviertel to drink mulled wine - actually this should only be served as a "to-go drink".

In the summer, the crowd in the neighborhood had caused some displeasure and criticism.

And in Ottensen, too, the out-of-home sales of drinks are very popular.

Apparently, not all of them adhere to the applicable corona distance and budget rules.

The district office of Hamburg-Altona sees little opportunity to take action against the “mulled wine corner”.

"In my opinion, the (Corona) containment ordinance should be tightened significantly at this point," said District Office Manager Stefanie von Berg (Greens).

Currently, the district office only has an opportunity to take action against dealers and restaurateurs if the ban on the out-of-home sale of alcohol after 10 p.m.

The security service of the district office regularly checks compliance with the corona rules with up to ten employees, explained von Berg.

At the moment, however, the employees could not do more than kindly ask the groups of people to disband.

The head of the district office therefore calls for a general ban on consumption where a mask is required.

"That would give us a good handle to take action against the mulled wine corners," said the Green politician.

However, it seems to be disputed whether this ban does not already exist.

As a spokesman for the city of the German Press Agency said, there is already no exemption from the mask requirement for eating, drinking or smoking, where this exists.

Masks are required outdoors in Hamburg - usually for a limited time - for example in Mönckebergstraße, on the Reeperbahn or at the main train station.

In other areas, such as on the shoulder blade, on Fridays, Saturdays, public holidays and the day before between 6 p.m. and 4 a.m.

The rest of the time it does not apply - and so there has been no ban on consumption in these areas.

As of Friday, the RKI reported 358 deaths for the Hanseatic city - eleven more than the day before.

The Hamburg health authority has all dead corona patients autopsied.

The Institute of Forensic Medicine then counts all cases in which someone has died of Covid-19 on this basis.

The RKI counts all people who have died in connection with a corona infection.
