According to Region Blekinge's infection control doctor Bengt Wittesjö, a total of 14 people with confirmed corona infection are being investigated due to their connection to the mink industry.

That is an increase of five people in two days.

- You work in the mining industry or are part of a family with connections to it.

Then we can not say now how the infection has gone, if people have infected each other or if the infection comes from minks, says Bengt Wittesjö.

Testing staff

The Swedish Public Health Agency, the Swedish Veterinary Institute (SVA) and the Swedish Board of Agriculture are investigating how the infection is spread between humans and mink.

This week, mass testing of personnel in the mining industry in Blekinge also began.

- We regularly take about 80 people who work in the mink industry in Sölvesborg municipality, says Bengt Wittesjö.

Sampling has not yet shown any mutated versions of the virus, similar to the virus strains discovered in Denmark.

- We have not isolated it in Sweden so far, but that is why the authorities are carrying out these investigations, says Bengt Wittesjö.
