Hamburg (AP) - VfL Osnabrück has advanced to second place in the 2nd Bundesliga with the 1-0 (0-0) at FC St. Pauli on Friday evening.

David Blacha scored the winning goal in the 86th minute.

FC St. Pauli had more possession of the ball in the first half, but could create few chances from it.

A blocked shot by Rico Benatelli in the 15th minute and a header opportunity in the 39th minute by Simon Makienok were the best opportunities before the break.

In the closing stages the game picked up speed.

Kevin Lankford missed a big chance for St. Pauli in the 84th minute.

Only two minutes later, substitute Blacha scored the winning goal for VfL Osnabrück, who had previously had no significant chance.

After their third defeat in a row, St. Pauli remains in 17th place in the table.
