  • In France, mutilations of horses have increased in recent weeks.

  • In the Montaigut-sur-Save sector, the presence in the early evening of a drone flying over the stables arouses the fear of equine breeders.

  • The gendarmerie deployed patrols to find the pilot and find out his intentions.

They are on the teeth.

For several months, the owners of horses no longer sleep on their two ears because of the mutilations which multiply everywhere in France.

For the past two weeks, those of Montaigut-sur-Save, and the neighboring municipalities in the north-west of Toulouse, have slept even lighter.

An unidentified drone began to fly over stud farms and equestrian centers, without knowing who was the pilot and what his motivations were.

The flying machine was seen fifteen times in the early evening or during the night by residents, but also four times by the gendarmes.

Given the context, and faced with the fear of equine owners, they were asked about this case.

In an attempt to find whoever is maneuvering, a helicopter and patrols have been deployed on the ground day and night.

No hypothesis at the gendarmerie

“This drone has a large scale, it can be seen from afar, which suggests that it is a professional drone.

If he is a professional, he can fly at night but with an authorization, which is not the case for amateur pilots ”, indicates a spokesman for the gendarmerie, including members of the Grenada brigade and the squad of monitoring and intervention (psig) of Toulouse-le Mirail are mobilized.

For the moment, no lead is favored by investigators who have not found any trace of a declared authorization.

Is it someone who does tests, scouting?

A malicious person like the horse breeders think?

A drone confused with an airplane as has already been the case in other circumstances?

"We are looking for information, if you see a drone passing near you, please film it or take a picture of it and contact the town hall, we will take over from the gendarmerie", indicates on his Facebook page of the municipality of Montaigut.

She recalls that in the event of an offense, the pilot can be sentenced to a penalty of up to one year of imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros.

It can especially come across an angry breeder.

Some have organized themselves.

Declared rounds take place and on social networks others call for calm.

And to avoid a disproportionate response.
