New statements by the lawyer of the late Argentine star Diego Maradona opened the door to questions about the circumstances of the death of the football legend, and the details of the last moments of his life.

And the Argentine Public Prosecution - in an official statement - stated that representatives of it had moved to Maradona's house in Tigre (north of Buenos Aires), and were assured that the death of the former player was natural after suffering a heart attack.

However, Maradona's lawyer, Matthias Morla, said he would request a full investigation into the circumstances of the death and criticized what he said was a slow response from the emergency service.

"What cannot be explained is that my friend remains 12 hours without any interest or examination from the employees assigned for this purpose," Morla said - in a statement on his Twitter account.

"The ambulance took more than half an hour to arrive, which is a criminal folly," he added, noting that the truth should not be "ignored", and that he would seek a full investigation into the matter. "As Diego used to tell me: You are a soldier, he acted without mercy."

However, official sources confirmed that the response was immediate, and 9 ambulances arrived at the site in a short period of time, but there was no way to do more than what was done to save Maradona's life.

The former soccer player was suffering from various health problems, and weeks ago he underwent an operation due to a blood pool in the brain.

The late star was discharged from the hospital, and was undergoing a recovery phase at his home surrounded by a nurse and psychologists, in addition to a limited number of his family members.

Maradona's nephew was the last to speak to him on Tuesday evening, before he fell asleep around 11 pm.

The nurse, who entered his room on Wednesday morning in order to give him his own medication, was surprised that he was lying on his bed without moving, and the resuscitation attempts did not succeed in saving him.

Alfredo Cahe, the personal physician of Maradona, said that the 1986 World Cup-winning player with Argentina was very sad in his final days, and a close relative was quoted as saying that Maradona told him that he was very anxious and depressed, and realized that he had already done everything in his life.

Today, Thursday, Maradona's body was transported to Casa Rosada, the headquarters of the Argentine Federal Government, in the presence of a large crowd, for a farewell look.
