A place for questioning and debate.

This Thursday, the city of Rennes opened its platform for consulting the general public on the deployment of 5G.

Every citizen will be able to make his contribution and ask his questions about this new technology to be deployed this fall by telephone operators.

Posted on the Fabrique Citoyenne website, the consultation will then be submitted to experts, who will answer the questions that have raised the most reactions.

In Rennes, the mayor Nathalie Appéré had requested the suspension of the deployment of 5G.

Recalling that she is "neither for nor against", the elected Socialist has set up a "study mission" which will have four months to deliver its conclusions on the impact of new technology.

"As we did for 3G or 4G, I want all the light to be shed on this technology because I consider that the citizen has the right to be informed and to issue an opinion before its deployment", explained then the mayor.

This study mission, led by digital assistant Pierre Janin, will be made up of 40 people, including 20 elected officials, 16 residents drawn by lot and a few experts.

This team “will seek to identify the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and risks associated with the deployment of this new technology”, both in terms of health and in terms of economics and technology.

She will present her conclusions at the end of March during a municipal council.

The city will then decide on the conditions for deploying the new network.
