On Europe 1, Patrice Ribeiro, secretary general of the Synergie-Officiers union, reacted to the testimony of "Michel", the black music producer beaten by several police officers in Paris.

"If the faults are proven, we can absolutely not condone the fact of having in our ranks people who engage in this type of abuse," he said.

INTERVIEW

In the midst of the controversy over the right to film the police in operation, this new case revealed by the Loopsider site led to the suspension of three police officers.

On Thursday, the news site published the video of the beating of a music producer by several police officers, as well as his testimony.

While the Paris prosecutor's office on Tuesday opened a procedure for "violence by persons holding public authority" and "forgery in public writing", Patrice Ribeiro, secretary general of the Synergie-Officiers union, believes on Europe 1 that if the facts are proven and correspond to the version of the victim, the police should be sanctioned.

"These are extremely shocking images," he said, "they have been revealed and so much the better."

For Patrice Ribeiro, "if inadequate and illegal acts have been committed, then their perpetrators will have nothing to do with the national police".

Forgeries in public writing?

"A criminal offense"

If the three men lied (in their report, the police officers write in particular that the producer had beaten them), "at that time, it is a double fault, because on the one hand they will have produced forgeries in public writing , which is a criminal offense, and on the other hand they will have perpetrated violence, which is unworthy of people who wear the uniform ", continues the trade unionist.

And Patrice Ribeiro concludes: "If the faults are proven, we can absolutely not condone the fact of having in our ranks people who engage in this type of abuses".
