Hanover (dpa) - Attempted murder in Hameln youth prison: In the trial against two young men for attempted murder and aiding and abetting attempted murder, the judgment is expected at the Hanover regional court this morning (9:00 a.m.).

The allegation: In October 2019, a 19-year-old prisoner is said to have planned to kill another prisoner in the youth facility in order to be transferred to the security department.

He is said to have made a stabbing weapon out of a ballpoint pen.

He is said to have asked a fellow prisoner who the victim should be.

The now 22-year-old is said to have selected the future victim who was in juvenile prison for serious sexual abuse of children.

The accused were convinced that the man deserved to die, the prosecutor said.

On October 9, 2019, the 19-year-old is said to have taken him into a headlock and stabbed his neck and head several times with a ballpoint pen.

The attacker did not let go of his victim until the guards pulled him away.

The victim was cut and lacerated.

According to a court spokesman, the hearing of the psychiatric experts is planned for Thursday;

after that the judgment is expected to be announced (Ref .: 31 KLs 11/20).
