The French Foreign Ministry clarified that during the debates before the Senate vote for a resolution calling for the French Cabinet to recognize Karabakh, the state secretary of the department recalled the official position of Paris.

France does not recognize the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, ”TASS said.

At the same time, Paris announced their intention to continue negotiations within the framework of the co-chairmanship in the Minsk Group on the future status of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Earlier, French Ambassador to Baku Zachary Gross was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry to hand over a note of protest over the resolution of the French Senate on Karabakh.

The Azerbaijani parliament also expressed its protest to the French Senate.

On November 25, the French Senate adopted a resolution calling on the country's government to recognize Karabakh.
