Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The state capital Düsseldorf wants to simplify access to condominiums for people in so-called system-relevant professions with a new project.
The Committee for Planning and Urban Development approved a corresponding decision on Wednesday evening.
Specifically, it is about a property in Düsseldorf-Gerresheim that the city wants to sell.
Buyers will then build affordable condominiums for people in systemically relevant professions, according to the city's usage concept.
"Ecological building" should also be taken into account according to the plan.
When choosing an investor, in addition to the purchase price, it should also be decisive who offers the cheapest resale price for the apartments.
Later, only people from professions that are classified by the Federal Ministry of Labor as systemically relevant are allowed to buy the apartments.
This can include nutrition, health, energy, and finance, along with several other industries.

Another condition is that the apartments are only given to people who earn a maximum of 60 percent more than the income limit for publicly subsidized housing.
In Düsseldorf the limit for a one-person stop would currently be around 48,500 euros gross per year, for parents with one child 72,800.
A maximum sales price for the apartments was not set in the concept, "so as not to influence possible calculations now," said a city spokesman.
It is Düsseldorf's first “concept tender” with this goal.
It is unclear whether it will stay with one case: "If the city's offer is received positively, further projects are conceivable."
Criticism of the project came from the left, who described the specifications as a “sham”: “There, under a social cloak, an urban property is being thrown behind private investors,” said the spokeswoman for the Left Council Group, Julia Marmulla, before the vote.
Instead, she asked for rental apartments, as condominiums remained too expensive - especially for saleswomen, nurses and midwives.
