Halle (dpa / sa) - The employment agencies in Saxony-Anhalt are not providing any Santa Clauses for the holidays this year.

The corona pandemic only plays a subordinate role, said the spokesman for the regional directorate for Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia in Halle, Kristian Veil.

"The trend has been down for years."

During the previous festive days, only a few agencies in the country had found people who would bring presents dressed as Santa Claus.

This was only the case in metropolitan areas like Halle and Magdeburg.

"There was already a shortage of skilled workers in recent years," said Veil.

In 2020, the priorities would also be on other things.

Many offices have few free resources anyway.

On the other hand, the demand was no longer too high.

Many interested parties turn to other providers such as Santa Claus exchanges on the Internet.

Performers also post their offers on online portals for classified ads and offer their arts there for the festive season.

According to the employment agency, there are also difficult conditions due to the pandemic.

Compliance with the hygiene rules makes business more difficult.

Corona therefore completely thwarted the placement of Santa Clauses via the employment agency in 2020, said Veil.
