The demolition of the scaffolding of Notre Dame Cathedral was completed on November 24, local time.

Dismantling the scaffolding is an important part of the restoration work after the Notre Dame de Paris fire.

French Minister of Culture Bachelor went to Notre Dame de Paris on the same day to inspect the scaffolding dismantlement and witnessed the removal of the last part of the scaffolding.

She emphasized that with the removal of the scaffolding, Notre Dame has been “saved”.

The chief of the reconstruction of Notre Dame de Paris and the former chief of staff of the French Army Georgeland also believes that the threat of scaffolding to Notre Dame de Paris has now been lifted, and the final maintenance steps for Notre Dame can be carried out.

Notre Dame de Paris was hit by a fire on April 15, 2019. At that time, Notre Dame was undergoing repairs. Scaffolding weighing 200 tons and consisting of 40,000 parts had been installed around the spire.

The fire destroyed the spire and most of the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral, and the scaffolding was scorched and severely deformed.

After evaluation, the official determined that the scaffold must be removed.

The dismantling of the scaffolding officially started on June 8, 2020. Due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, strikes, and weather, the project has been delayed for nearly 6 months.

As the scaffolding work has only been completed so far, the restoration period of Notre Dame Cathedral is still relatively tight.
