Kaiserslautern is new to the ranks of cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants and surprises with 13th place in the sustainability index and 21st place for dynamism.

The city scores above all with research strength, according to the study.

Koblenz (26) is one of the dynamic cities.

On the nationwide podium for economic power and dynamism is Munich.

Regensburg scored ahead of the Autostadt Ingolstadt and the university city of Heidelberg in the sustainability index.

For the annual study, the current situation and rates of change of certain indicators (dynamics) of 71 independent cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants were compared.

Factors such as economic structure, labor market, real estate and quality of life were analyzed.

The sustainability index includes economic, ecological and social factors, including the installed solar power per capita and the supply of electric charging stations.
