It is an exceptional accident which occurred this Thursday morning, in the south of the island of Yeu (Vendée).

Shortly before 8 a.m., a fishing vessel named 

Nando

collided with a barge attached to the tug

Contact with the barge, which is around one hundred meters long, caused a waterway in front of the trawler, reports the Maritime Prefecture of the Atlantic.

Two of the three sailors making up the crew were quickly taken over by another trawler sailing in the area.

The

Nando's

boss-fisherman

remained on board to try to contain the leak.

Finally, the intervention of a customs boat and SNSM divers will be necessary to keep the boat afloat.

He returned to the port of Les Sables d'Olonne around 11 am.

As for the tug and its barge, having suffered no visible damage, it resumed its journey towards the Netherlands.

A gendarmerie investigation was launched to determine the causes of the accident.
