Kiel (dpa / lno) - Good news from Berlin for the culture in Schleswig-Holstein, which is suffering from the Corona crisis: A good 24 million euros will flow into the country from the federal government's cultural funding in the coming years.

This was announced by the Ministry of Culture in Kiel on Thursday.

The institutions with particularly large funding include Kiel Castle with eleven million euros for the renovation of the concert hall and Eutin Castle with three million euros for projects in the palace and gardens.

"I am extremely grateful to the Schleswig-Holstein members of the Bundestag that they are so vehemently committed to making the Kiel Palace an outstanding concert address in Schleswig-Holstein," said Minister Karin Prien (CDU).

"This has set the course in the state capital for this important project on green."

In principle, the federal funds are a great help and a good sign for culture in times of the corona pandemic.

The costs for the urgently needed renovation of the concert hall in Kiel Castle are estimated at 35.5 million euros.

The federal government is giving 2.7 million euros for renovation and restoration measures on historic buildings in the open-air museum in Molfsee near Kiel.

The Laboe marine monument is to be restored to a better condition with 2.25 million euros.

The Dithmarscher Landesmuseum receives a good 2.2 million euros for a new permanent exhibition and for the energetic renovation of the listed building complex.

Additional federal money will go to the Cismar monastery and the sponsoring association for the restoration of the “Fehmarnbelt” lightship in Lübeck.
