In China, a video of cleaning the toilet with a towel for guests at a famous 5-star hotel that costs hundreds of thousands of won a day is causing great controversy.

On the 25th, Weibo (Chinese version of Twitter) and others recently revealed a scene where an employee of a 5-star hotel in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, came into the room and wiped the cup with a rag, and then did not follow the basic procedure for collecting and disinfecting the cup.

It was also revealed that the employee used items used by customers for cleaning, such as washing the toilet with a customer bath towel.

As a video of this appearance spread to Weibo, the hotel manager clarified, "This behavior was done privately by this employee and does not meet the standards of hotel service."

The hotel then initiated disciplinary action against the employee to undergo service refresher training.

The problem is that this is not happening once or twice in a luxury hotel in China.

In November 2018, a Chinese luxury hotel guest used a sneak camera to take a picture of cleaning the bathroom and then uploaded a video on Weibo with the title ``The Secret of the Cup,'' and China turned upside down.

In the video, employees of representative hotels in China wiped cups, sinks, and mirrors with dirty rags or bath towels worn by customers.

In 2017, a video containing scenes such as cleaning a cup with a toilet bowl cleaning brush in the process of cleaning a luxury hotel was released, which was a bit of annoyance.

This hygiene controversy arises even in Chinese luxury hotels because some hotels do not have enough staff to clean the rooms to save money, and to save time, they sometimes overlook non-regulated cleaning.

Reflecting this concern, it was found that 60% of Chinese people bring their own towels when they stay at hotels.

As a result of a survey of 2,14 people by the China Youth Report Social Research Center, 84% of respondents experienced hygiene conditions at hotels that did not meet standards.

62% of respondents said they prepared towels in advance before going to the hotel.

A netizen on Weibo said, "When I stay at the hotel, I prepare everything from sheets, towels, and cups," he said. "There are a lot of friends who carry a kettle because they don't know what the room kettle was used for."
