The two explosions occurred on the night of January 21 this year in two apartment buildings in Kista and Husby in northwest Stockholm.

The explosions took place only a few minutes apart.

The explosions caused some personal injuries and extensive property damage to the properties.

Seven people were in the directly affected apartments, two of them were children.

In addition to them, about 90 people living at the addresses were affected, the Public Prosecutor's Office writes in a press release.

"These are crimes that have affected a large circle of people and created great material and mental suffering for many people.

These crimes are impossible to resist.

Many have been awakened by the explosions that came from nowhere in the middle of the night.

Two explosions so close to each other have caused trauma to many of the victims ", says prosecutor Carl Mellberg in the press release.

The background to the explosions is extortion attempts aimed at people with connections to the addresses, according to the prosecutor.

The 22-year-old is therefore also charged with attempted aggravated extortion, together with another person who is not, however, deprived of his liberty.

The indictment is the result of an extensive investigation in which several parts of the police were involved.

Jacob Påhlman, head of investigation into serious crimes in the Stockholm North police area, says in the press release that it was quickly decided that the explosions would be investigated within the framework of a regional special event.

"A lot of resources have been invested in reconnaissance, internet retrieval, telephone analysis, financial investigations and investigative measures abroad in several countries through legal aid," says Påhlman.
