At the end of August, Rasmus Paludan, party leader of the Danish party Stram Kurs, initiated a Koran burning in Malmö which was carried out without the permission of the police.

The provocation was filmed and posted online, something that aroused strong feelings and eventually degenerated.

Preliminary investigations have been closed

Since then, five men and a woman, one in his 30s and the rest between 16 and 17, have been charged with violent rioting.

All live in Malmö.

In two further cases, one of which concerns a person under the age of 15, the preliminary investigation has been closed.

Also charged with other crimes

The suspicions surrounding the riot will not be raised in court until Friday.

The first day of the trial is important for other charges against one of the suspects.

It concerns the 30-year-old man, who in addition to the riot is suspected of blue light sabotage and attempted such on three different occasions, of which an attempted sabotage must have occurred outside the Court Center in Malmö in early August.
