Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate Interior Minister Roger Lewentz (SPD) has identified extremely fast radicalization tendencies in the context of the so-called lateral thinker movement.

“That worries us very much.

Because unorganized individual perpetrators are extremely difficult to identify for the police and the protection of the constitution, ”said Lewentz of the German press agency in Mainz.

"The extremely thinking fringes are teaming up at the moment," said Lewentz.

"It's a very colorful mix, but it is dangerous for society."

The lateral thinker movement regularly demonstrates against the state corona measures.

In police operations it is also increasingly common to find that people without knowledge of the background immediately took sides against the officers and for those who were arrested or restrained, said Lewentz.

These groups behaved aggressively towards police officers and also filmed everything with their cell phones.

Today (12.30 pm) Minister Lewentz, the head of the constitution protection department, Elmar May, and the inspector of the police, Jürgen Schmitt in Mainz, will provide information about the findings and assessments of the constitution protection and the police.
