Ratingen (dpa) - A stranger stopped an ambulance and knocked down the driver (42).
In the incident in Ratingen near Düsseldorf on Wednesday night, the perpetrator waved to himself near a bus stop.
The 42-year-old assumed that the young man needed help, stopped and came to him with his emergency kit, the police reported.
Surprisingly, the supposedly help-seeking person then knocked the paramedic down with an as yet unknown object and then searched his suitcase.
It was initially unclear whether he would take anything away from it.
The paramedic complained of headache and neck pain and was taken to a hospital. The stranger escaped on a mountain bike despite the police search.
The officials are investigating and are hoping for evidence.
According to an initial description, the perpetrator is 20 to 25 years old.
