Skutskär resident Josefin Eliasson was out walking the dog in the scenic area Sandbankarna between the sea and the forest just outside central Skutskär.
Then she discovered excavators that were in the process of hauling away the rolling dunes and laying them in small right.
- I have been going here since childhood and reacted at once.
What was the idea?

"Follows maintenance plan"
Älvkarleby municipality believes that the excavation work was part of the management plan.
But the County Administrative Board of Uppsala County, which has stated for the newspaper Arbetarbladet, believes that the purpose of the measures was to clear away certain vegetation, never to remove the entire dunes.
On Wednesday, Älvkarleby municipality was in the process of laying back the dunes.
But the vegetation that binds the dunes and prevents them from blowing away has been dug up not just once - but twice.
- There are ways to do this so that the dunes remain.
And that is the method we work by, says Bert-Ola Dahlgren, community construction manager.
Wants to preserve nature
Whether the dunes can withstand the coming autumn and winter storms remains to be seen.
Skutskär residents want their dunes to remain:
- It felt terrible, I must say.
I think that nature is very important and that we preserve it.
