Trump agrees to transfer power to Biden

In his first indirect admission of his defeat in the presidential elections, the outgoing US President Donald Trump gave the green light for President-elect Joe Biden's team to receive the federal support necessary to start the process of transferring power, while the latter began naming members of his new administration.

Although he abandoned his refusal two weeks ago to release federal support, in an unprecedented step in American history, the Republican president has not yet directly recognized the Democrats ’victory.

Trump vowed in a tweet to continue the "battle", while continuing to file judicial complaints to prove fraud in the elections held on November 3, but to no avail.

Trump said: "I think we will prevail, but for the sake of our country, I recommend the government agency in charge of the transfer of power to do what needs to be done in relation to the initial protocols, and I have asked my team to do the same."

The Biden team quickly welcomed this necessary step for a "smooth and peaceful transition of power."
