China News Service, November 24. According to a report from the American Overseas Chinese News Network, the latest mural "Dragon and Lion Dance" designed and produced by the "Chinatown Mural Project" was completed on Wesson Street, Kennedy Road, Manhattan, New York.

The new mural is based on the traditional Chinese folk customs "dragon and lion dance", and the well-known Chinatown iconic restaurants such as "Hehe Hotel" and "Hutchison Hotel" are added to the painting to show the culture of Chinatown community.

As a traditional folk custom of the Chinese nation, dragon dance and lion dance have been popular for a long time.

The dragon is an ancient totem. Legend has it that the dragon can move clouds and rain, dispel disasters and reduce blessings, and symbolize auspiciousness. Therefore, "dancing the dragon to pray for peace and a good harvest" has become a custom in Chinese communities.

Chen Jialing, the initiator of the "Chinatown Mural Project", said that the work is located on the opposite street of No. 135 Diweson Street, at the junction of Kennedy Road and Diweson Street.

The painting began on November 20 and was completed on the 24th.

During the production period, painting starts at 8 am every day, and painting is suspended after sunset at about 4:15 pm.

The "Dragon and Lion Dance" painting is 14 feet (about 4.3 meters) high and 19 feet (about 5.8 meters) wide. It is the first time the "Chinatown Mural Project" used a tripod to complete the work.

The work is inspired by the Chinese New Year, and adds "Hehe Hotel" and "Hutchison Hotel", two of the oldest and most famous restaurants in Chinatown as one of the mural elements.
