November 24, 2020 "Some data show that something is starting to work better than in the past but we are aware that the Red Code is not the panacea. The data on the femicide data tells us that there is still a long way to go." premier Giuseppe Conte in a message for the presentation of the report "A year of the Red Code".

"The Code is only a very important fundamental piece that concerns the moment in which the violence has already occurred: it is not enough. A serious intervention requires time, a synergistic approach and the awareness that the way to reverse will bear fruit over time and this is the path that as a government, together with the ministers, we are committed to taking ".

"A little more than a year ago, the Red Code became law of the State", recalled Conte. "We are talking about a set of written rules with the fundamental contribution of the associations that have been dealing with victims of gender violence for years, to remedy a series of limitations of the regulatory system that had proved inadequate ".

"In the past, women who had found the strength to denounce their executioner - added the Prime Minister - remained unheard, fell into an even deeper abyss and we wanted to offer the victims of physical but also psychological violence the certainty of a help, that the hands will be grabbed, that there will be those who will take care of them in a short time and today, one year after the entry into force of the Red Code and on the eve of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, it is time to draw up an initial assessment of its effectiveness ".
