With the deepening of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, the demand for intra-city travel has further increased, and cities in the Yangtze River Delta adjacent to Shanghai are accelerating their integration into the Shanghai metropolis.

At the recent Yangtze River Delta integration meeting in Suzhou to Shanghai and the Suzhou city promotion meeting, Suzhou Mayor Li Yaping stated that the first phase of the Shanghai-Sutong Railway has been in full operation this year, and Suzhou Metro Line S1 and Line 10 will They are connected with Shanghai Metro Line 11 and Line 17 respectively.

On the same day, at the 2020 Shanghai-Pacific Cooperative Development Promotion Conference, the Jiamin Line (including the northern extension) to Taicang section project cooperation memorandum was successfully signed.

"As the first inter-provincial and municipal railway between Shanghai and the Soviet Union, the extension of the Shanghai Jiamin Line to Taicang in the north will further reshape the space-time distance between Shanghai and Taichung." The relevant person in charge of the Taicang Development and Reform Commission said.

What is the significance of the north extension of Jiamin Line?

Generally speaking, the rail transit network has three levels. The first is the national trunk railway. The long-distance transportation between cities is assumed by such major trunk lines and major channels. The second level is the intercity line and the urban area (suburban). ) The railway, which extends from the main artery and cooperates with the main route, can form a network with other prefecture-level cities and county-level cities; the last level is the urban rail transit.

In the cities of the Yangtze River Delta, the spatial function pattern is undergoing adjustments, the demand for intra-city travel has further increased, and a current development status of circles and corridors has emerged.

When the national trunk line network is basically stable, in order to build the Yangtze River Delta on the track, a consensus has been basically formed on the development of intercity rail transit and urban (suburban) railways.

In April this year, the National Development and Reform Commission announced the "Higher-quality Integrated Development Plan for Transportation in the Yangtze River Delta", which puts forward specific requirements for the inter-city transportation network, such as speeding up the construction of high-speed railway connections and inter-city railways, and realizing inter-city 1~ 1.5-hour fast connection, etc.; at the same time, it is clearly stated that the unified planning and construction of the metropolitan area transportation infrastructure will strengthen the connection between the central city and other cities in the metropolitan area and the intercity and urban (suburban) railways, road transportation, and adjacent areas bus lines to accelerate the construction of Shanghai The one-hour commuter network of metropolitan areas and the metropolitan areas of Nanjing, Hangzhou, Hefei, Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou, and Ningbo will improve the integrated rail transit system of the neighboring Shanghai areas such as Kunshan and Jiashan.

At present, the location of the Jiamin Line in Shanghai has been officially announced.

In mid-to-early November, the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission issued the "Special Plan for Route Selection of Shanghai Rail Transit Jiamin Line (Chengbei Road Station-Yindu Road Station) (Draft Public Notice)" (hereinafter referred to as "Draft").

The draft introduces that the Jiamin line in Shanghai belongs to the north-south city area line, which passes through Jiading District and Minhang District, and is connected to Line 11, Line 14, Line 2, Line 10, and Line 9 in the rail transit network. , Line 12 and other lines transfer.

The main areas passed by are Jiading New City, Nanxiang, Jiangqiao, Hongqiao Business District, Qibao, Xinzhuang, etc.

According to the draft, the total length of the city line is about 44.0 kilometers, starting from Chengbei Road Station and ending at Yindu Road Station. There are 15 stations in Shanghai, namely Chengbei Road Station, Xincheng Road Station, Jiajian Road Station, and Fengmao Road Station. , Nanxiang Station, Jinyuan 5th Road Station, Jinyun Road Station, Tianshan Road Station, Hongqiao Station, Yingbin 3rd Road Station, Huxing Road Station, Qibao Station, Qixin Road Station, Xinjian Road Station and Yindu Road Station (station names are tentatively named).

The Jiamin Line (including the northern extension) to Taicang section will incorporate Suzhou Taicang into Shanghai’s first urban railway extending to surrounding cities.

Coupled with the Shanghai-Sutong Railway that was opened in July this year, Taicang will accelerate its integration into the Shanghai metropolitan area.

Tu Xuan, director of the Urban and Regional Economic Research Institute of Shanghai Development and Reform Research Institute, said in an interview with China Business News that the Taicang section of the Jiamin line is Shanghai's first urban railway extending to surrounding cities.

As a bridgehead connecting Jiangsu to Shanghai, Taicang is promoting the interconnection of major infrastructure such as rail transit railways, dead ends, ports and shipping in accordance with the requirements of integrated development. In particular, the first phase of the Shanghai-Sutong Railway officially opened in July this year. The formation of a "5+1" railway network system will truly reshape the space-time distance between Shanghai and Taicang.

"Now it takes only 26 minutes for Taicang to reach the Hongqiao Business District. The realization of the same city effect and integration into the Shanghai metropolitan area will also help Taicang to attract more enterprises, talents, capital, technology and other resources with the advantages of its location and transportation advantages. This also has an obvious demonstration effect on the integration of transportation in neighboring Shanghai. More inter-provincial and municipal railways will turn Shanghai, Shanghai New City, and surrounding cities into a networked city cluster." Tu Xuan said.

Shanghai Shentie Investment Co., Ltd. told CBN reporters that the Shanghai-Sutong Railway can transfer between Taicang and the northern extension of the Jiamin line, but the specific transfer station is currently unknown, because the Shanghai section of the Jiamin line has just started and construction has not yet officially started. .

  Speed up urban rail construction

Urban (suburban) railway is a commuterized, fast, and large-volume rail transit system connecting the surrounding town clusters and the urban clusters in the city center. It is an important part of the urban comprehensive transportation system.

According to data released by the China Urban Rail Transit Association at the beginning of this year, as of the end of 2019, a total of 40 cities in Mainland China have opened 6,70.27 kilometers of urban rail transit operating lines. Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Ningbo, Lanzhou, Qingdao, Cities such as Wenzhou have operated city-wide express rail, totaling 715.61 kilometers, accounting for 10.63% of the total length of rail transit lines.

Among the 968.77 kilometers of urban rail operating lines newly added in 2019, the urban express rail is 59.11 kilometers, which is not high.

In June 2017, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Transport and other departments issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Development of Urban (Suburban) Railways", pointing out that by 2020, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, Chengyu, etc. In economically developed regions, super large cities and large cities with conditions, urban (suburban) backbone railway lines have basically been formed, and a one-hour commuting circle from the core area to the surrounding main areas will be established; other cities in the urban agglomeration and urbanized areas will be launched. Urban (suburban) railway planning and construction work.

The "Shanghai City Master Plan (2017-2035)" also proposes that Shanghai plans to build a 1,000-kilometer urban railway to form a multi-level rail transit network consisting of city lines, urban lines, and local lines.

It can be seen that there is still considerable room for growth in municipal railways.

One of the developments worthy of attention is the development of rail transit in the Yangtze River Delta Integration Demonstration Zone.

The relevant departments of Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province published the "Integrated Transportation Plan for Jiashan District in the Yangtze River Delta Eco-Green Integrated Development Demonstration Zone" in October.

At the regional transportation level, the Jiashan area of the Yangtze River Delta Ecological Green Integration Development Demonstration Zone will build two high-speed railways including Shanghai-Hangzhou High-speed Railway and Tongsu-Jiamen High-speed Railway, Shanghai-Hangzhou Intercity and Shanghai-Jiamen Intercity Railway, Shanghai Metro 17 The "2221" rail network is composed of two track lines, the extension line of Line No. 10, the extension line of Line 10 of Suzhou Metro, and one ordinary speed railway of Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway.

The planning suggests that Shanghai Line 17 extend to Jiashan South Station, passing through important nodes such as Jiashan Station, Xitang Station, and the Shuixiang Living Room; it is recommended that Suzhou Line 10 extend to Shuixiang Living Room Station, passing through Lili, and planning Jiaxing North Station within Jiashan Track branch to Xitang Station.

According to the publicized rail network layout plan, the extension of Shanghai Metro Line 17 departs from Shanghai Metro Dongfang Lvzhou Station, along with Dianshan Lake Station, Shuixiang Living Room Station, Beixiang Fudang Station, Xitang Station, Yaozhuang Station, and Tan Gongbei Road Station, Jiashan Station, Jiashan Stadium Station, High-speed Railway Xincheng Station, Jiashan South Station have 10 stations, connecting Pinghu in the long term.

The extension line of Suzhou Metro Line 10 starts from the planned Suzhou South Station, passes through Lili Station, and ends at Shuixiang Living Room Station.

According to the schedule, construction will start next year, and it will be put into operation in 2025.

In the plan, Jiashan proposes to create a "half-hour traffic circle" to achieve half-hour interchange with major cities in the Yangtze River Delta such as Shanghai, Suzhou, and Hangzhou. The demonstration areas include Xitang, Tongli, Lili, Jinze, Zhujiajiao, and Lianjiao. Main town nodes such as Tang reach each other within half an hour.

In other words, in the future, you can take the subway from the main city of Jiashan directly to downtown Shanghai.

Tu Xuan told reporters that compared with Jiamin Line, Suzhou Line 10, Shanghai Line 17 and Jiaxing Line 3 of the Yangtze River Delta Integration Demonstration Zone converge, involving more departments and more difficult coordination, but in the demonstration zone Under the unified deployment of the Executive Committee, the faster landing will help the demonstration zone and the Hongqiao Business District to achieve closer interaction in the future, allowing the people to travel between the demonstration zone and other areas more conveniently, and truly build the demonstration zone into a Jiangnan water town living room.

“At present, the selection of interchange hubs for the three lines at the same station is underway, with subway system interconnection, same station transfer, and all-in-one card travel. However, because the service population of Jiaxing Line 3 cannot meet the conditions for subway construction, it may also be based on the intercity railway system. The connection with Shanghai Line 17 requires the parties to continue consultations.” Tu Xuan revealed.
