Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - The Dortmund district court has sentenced a previously convicted sex offender to six years and ten months imprisonment after another rape in Kamen.

The now 26-year-old man dragged a 16-year-old into a bush in August 2019 and threatened and intimidated her to perform sexual acts.

The defendant had admitted sexual contact with the young woman, but claimed that both of them wanted it.

However, the judges believed the woman.

This has no motive for wrongly incriminating the defendant, it said on Monday in the judgment.

The accused had already been sentenced to several years in prison as a teenager after two sexual assaults on women.

After serving them, he was placed under management supervision and included in a program to monitor sex offenders at risk of relapse.

In the current trial, the main question was whether the judges should also order the man to be placed in preventive detention.

From the point of view of the psychiatric experts appointed by the court, this is not yet the case with the 26-year-old.

"In the event of another offense, however, there is no way around preventive detention," said the verdict.

The verdict is not yet legally binding.
