Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The State Office for the Protection of the Constitution expects a low hit rate for the planned rule request for prospective officers in the police and judiciary about their loyalty to the constitution.

"It can be assumed that there are only a small number of applicants in the Office for the Protection of the Constitution," said the head of the agency, Reinhard Müller, in an interview with the "Schweriner Volkszeitung" (Monday).

The rule query is an inventory query in the intelligence information system.

A more extensive information gathering with intelligence means such as an observation is not connected with it.

Müller sees extra work coming up to his authority.

"Depending on how the legal regulation is designed, an increase in personnel is imperative."

The state government's draft law, which is currently being discussed in the state parliament, provides for employees in the police and certain areas of the judiciary to submit a regular request to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) before they are employed.

Applicants in the judiciary, as court and probation officers, as psychologists in the forensic outpatient clinic at the State Office for Outpatient Offenses or as a judicial officer should be affected.

The Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the LKA should check whether there is any evidence that casts doubt on the applicant's loyalty to the constitution.
