Rostock / Neustrelitz (dpa / mv) - The clubs and live venues in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are, according to their own account, facing the end without economic support.

"The situation in our industry is devastating," said Johanna Treppmann from the MV Kulturwerk on Monday in Rostock.

It represents around 30 organizers in the northeast.

The organizers of concerts and other cultural events should in fact not open since March because of the corona situation and have no income.

"Some operators have taken out loans, others used up their reserves," reported Treppmann.

The announced «November aid» of the federal government - the replacement of up to 75 percent of the turnover from the previous year - is the first real aid, if it is paid out.

"We are also calling for help for December and beyond," said Treppmann, referring to the talks between the federal and state governments on Wednesday.

Otherwise it will be very difficult to survive the winter.

In the summer, individual clubs tried to make some sales with a kind of pub business, but they are not designed for that.

"The late autumn to spring is actually our main turnover time," emphasized Treppmann - and live venues lived from the most popular events possible.

Internet livestreams are not a substitute, as they do not generate any sales.

A club in Schwerin has already closed completely.

To draw attention to the situation of the cultural organizers, there will be three panel discussions in Neustrelitz, Schwerin and Stralsund from Tuesday.

Katarina Peranic from the German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering and Theater Director Sven Müller are also expected to kick off at the theater in Neustrelitz.

One aspect should be how cultural funding can be included in future-oriented village, urban and regional development.
