A 51-year-old woman attacked a veiled Muslim woman near Hamburg Central Station.
Apparently for Islamophobic motives, she tried to tear the veil off the 24-year-old's face, the police said on Monday.
The crime occurred on Saturday around 2 p.m.
She also hit the Muslim woman, kicked her and loudly insulted her.
Two police officers, who happened to be on site in their free time, intervened and arrested the 51-year-old.
She insulted the officers and spat on one of them.
Since the Kiel public prosecutor's office had already received an arrest warrant against the woman, she was taken to remand prison.
The office for politically motivated acts in the State Criminal Police Office took over the further investigations.
Neither the 24-year-old nor the two police officers were injured in the incident, it said.
