Guterres on the Jeddah attack: a violation of humanitarian law

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, expressed his concern about the attack on the petroleum products distribution station in Jeddah.

On Monday, Guterres said that the attacks against civilian targets and infrastructure violate humanitarian law.

In addition, he stressed that the Kingdom strongly condemns this cowardly attack, and affirms that these terrorist and sabotage acts are committed against vital installations, including what happened recently in Jizan near the floating unloading platform of the Petroleum Products Distribution Station and the previous terrorist attack on oil installations in Abqaiq Khurais aims to target the security and stability of energy supplies to the world, as well as the global economy.

He reiterated the Kingdom's affirmation of the importance of confronting such acts of sabotage and terrorism and the parties behind it.

It is noteworthy that an official source at the Ministry of Energy had stated on Monday evening that at 533 o'clock on Monday morning, an explosion occurred that caused a fire in a fuel tank at the petroleum products distribution station in the north of Jeddah as a result of a terrorist attack with a projectile.

The source explained that the firefighting teams managed to extinguish the fire, and that no injuries or loss of life occurred as a result of this attack, and that Saudi Aramco's supply of fuel to its customers was not affected.
