Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The number of confirmed corona infections has fallen more sharply in Baden-Württemberg.

According to the State Health Office on Monday (as of 4:00 p.m.), 1246 new cases were confirmed within 24 hours, a total of 134 819 since the beginning of the pandemic. On Sundays and Mondays, however, the numbers are often comparatively low because, according to Robert Koch -Institute fewer samples are taken on the weekend and therefore fewer tests are performed overall.

On Monday last week, the number of cases in Baden-Württemberg had increased by 1739, on the same weekday two weeks ago it was 1540.

The number of deaths in connection with the virus, on the other hand, rose sharply by 48 to 2496, as the State Health Office (LGA) further announced.

This is mainly due to irregular late reports from the registry offices, which do not pass the numbers on to the health authorities on a daily basis, said an LGA spokeswoman.

87,910 people are considered recovered, 1,433 more than was known the day before.

Nationwide, the value for new infections per 100,000 inhabitants fell slightly within seven days to 137.0.

However, all 44 urban and rural districts in Baden-Württemberg are still above the limit of 50, from which a district is considered a risk area.
