The number of cases of covid-19 increased significantly during a couple of weeks in Uppvidinge municipality.

During week 43, the number was 5, but up to week 46 it was 104, according to statistics from the Swedish Public Health Agency.

- In Uppvidinge in particular, it is increasing drastically.

It is a small municipality that has a large spread in society and also within municipal activities, said Christian Blomqvist, infection control doctor Region Kronoberg last week.

Constant increase

The increase in Uppvidinge has been constant and equal during week 43-46, an average of 33 new cases a week.

This development has placed the municipality at the top of FHM's list of municipalities with the highest number of disease cases per 10,000 inhabitants.

That number currently ends up at 108 in week 46.

Region Kronoberg's latest figures point to an approximately equal increase for week 47, ie about 100 new cases of illness.

Increase despite measures

In connection with the Public Health Agency's decision to introduce stricter general councils in Kronoberg County, Uppvidinge Municipality has implemented measures to reduce the spread.

The libraries are no longer meeting places, a limited number of visitors are received at receptions in municipal activities, public transport in the ice rinks has been removed, municipal events have been canceled and the open preschool in Åseda has closed.

However, the number of infected people has increased constantly despite these measures.

The tightened advice applies in Kronoberg until 26 November, but may be extended.
