Erfurt (dpa / th) - The nature conservation organization BUND Thuringia and the BUND Green Belt department have called for a photo competition to document the flora and fauna on the Green Belt.

"The aim of the photo competition is to capture the ecological diversity around the Green Belt in the Thuringian Slate Mountains / Franconian Forest," said Karin Kowol, Green Belt project manager at BUND Thuringia, on Monday.

Both regions were characterized by an outstanding wealth of animal and plant species.

Behind the green belt is a nature conservation project along the former inner-German border.

It is almost 1400 kilometers long.

Those wishing to take part in the competition can submit recordings of typical cultural landscape relics or historical forms of use such as mountain meadows, but also of people and plants in the landscape.

Interested parties can apply by email until August 31, 2021 with a maximum of two images as a preview.

Different seasons should be shown.

An expert jury made up of professional photographers and representatives of nature conservation associations and protected area administrations on the Green Belt will evaluate the photos.

The prizes are prizes and a guided photo safari.
