The attacker Eugénie Le Sommer and the defender Marion Torrent, injured, withdrew from the gathering of the French women's team, as the defender Aïssatou Tounkara, tested positive for Covid-19, announced the federation on Monday.

Tounkara (Atlético Madrid) "was placed in solitary confinement and left the France group at the end of the afternoon" Monday, the FFF said in a statement, indicating that the defender will not be replaced digitally.

On the other hand, the coach Corinne Deacon called in reinforcement Clara Matéo, striker of Paris FC, to face these numerous absences on the first day of the rally in Clairefontaine.

A little earlier in fact, the FFF had indicated that Le Sommer had passed on Monday "additional examinations" which confirmed a "hamstring muscle injury" contracted Friday during the defeat of Lyon in the clash against Paris SG at Parc des Princes (1-0) in women's D1.

As for Marion Torrent, "she suffers from a muscle lesion in the psoas" and was made available to her Montpellier club, Deacon deciding to replace her with Julie Thibaud, Bordeaux player (22 years old) already summoned in the past but who has not yet celebrated his first selection.

The Sommer had already been replaced in advance, with the summons on Sunday of Sandy Baltimore (PSG, 20), for the first time.

With the absences of Le Sommer and Torrent, the Bleues lose their two vice-captains, the armband normally having to go to the arm of Amandine Henry, the Lyon midfielder who recently spoke about the tensions existing at the heart of the selection.

Les Bleues face Austria in Guingamp on Friday, then Kazakhstan on Tuesday 1 December, for their last two qualifying matches for Euro-2022.
