Würzburg (dpa / lby) - Almost a year after the violent death of a baby in Lower Franconia, the mother described her relationship with the accused to the Würzburg district court.

Her ex-boyfriend was very quick-tempered and temperamental and told her that the baby screaming stressed him out.

In the event of a separation, he threatened her that he would let the police take the boy away from her, the 21-year-old said on Monday.

The 24-year-old is said to have been rough with the baby at times.

She was afraid of the man.

The family from the Gemünden area (Main-Spessart district) was looked after by the youth welfare office at the time.

The 24-year-old has had to answer for murder before the district court since October.

At the start of the trial, he denied having fatally mistreated the child shortly before Christmas 2019.

He had neither hit the eight-month-old baby nor willingly suffocated.

The 24-year-old also dismissed the prosecution's allegations that he had mistreated the boy in the weeks before his death.

He just wants to have treated the child roughly sometimes.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the German of having maltreated and suffocated the boy with blunt force.
