On the afternoon of November 23, the Guizhou Provincial Government Information Office held a press conference, announcing that the Guizhou Provincial Leading Group Meeting for Poverty Alleviation will determine that Ziyun, Nayong, Weining, Hezhang, Yanhe, Rongjiang and Congjiang Nine counties including Jiang County, Qinglong County, and Wangmo County were removed from the poverty-stricken counties sequence.

So far, all 66 poverty-stricken counties in Guizhou province have all achieved poverty alleviation.

  In recent years, as China’s main battlefield for poverty alleviation, Guizhou has insisted on taking poverty alleviation as the top priority and the first people’s livelihood project, and taking poverty alleviation to dominate the overall economic and social development. Guizhou has established a documented poverty population from 9.23 million in 2012. The number of people dropped to 308,000 at the end of 2019, and the rate of poverty reduction is among the highest in China; the incidence of poverty dropped from 26.8% in 2012 to 0.85% in 2019.

Guizhou ranges from the province with the largest number of poor people in China to the province with the largest number of people out of poverty.
