Hamburg (dpa / lno) - In the dispute over the illegal granting of tax advantages for Hamburg clubs classified as extremist, the AfD sees its allegations against the city's tax administration confirmed.

As a small request to the Senate revealed, two out of three ongoing proceedings against extremist associations to withdraw their non-profit status were only initiated after a major request from the AfD parliamentary group in October.

In its answer to the major question, the red-green Senate rejected the allegation that it had illegally treated the associations as charitable and tax-privileged and referred to the three ongoing proceedings.

However, it remained open when the proceedings were initiated.

Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD) had accused the AfD of spreading “fake news” in this context.

The Senate's answer to the minor question now states that the proceedings were initiated on October 23.

The AfD had made its big request ten days earlier.

His parliamentary group assumes that the Islamic Center Hamburg is among the three associations, which has been observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution for decades and classified as Islamist, said parliamentary group leader Dirk Nockemann.

The AfD has a written self-assessment from the association, according to which an exemption notice granted by the tax authorities was last extended in 2019.

"Instead of accusing our group of fake news, the red-green Senate should explain why they granted anti-Semites and extremists tax breaks and how they will reclaim them as soon as possible," he demanded.
