Hamburg / Lüneburg (dpa) - Mourning in the German comedy scene: The actor and comedian Karl Dall is dead. He died on Monday at the age of 79, as his family announced to the German press agency.

Dall has not recovered from a stroke he suffered twelve days ago.

«Despite the use of all technological and intensive care measures, he fell asleep peacefully today without having regained consciousness beforehand.

He leaves behind a wife, daughter and granddaughter, ”said the family's letter.

"He was not only a popular comedian and entertainer, but above all an exceptionally lovable and nice person."

As a stupid bard and king of jokes, Dall moderated talk shows on television, placed himself in the charts with hits like “This disc is a hit” and “Millions of women love me” and stood in front of the camera as an actor in mostly smaller roles for various comedies.

With formats like “Dall-As” (1985-1991 on RTL) and “Jux und Dallerei” (1992-1994) on Sat.1, the entertainer also had his own TV programs.

It was only at the beginning of November that Dall had taken on the role of old rock star Richie Sky in the ARD series “Rote Rosen”.

In Lüneburg, where the telenovela is being filmed, he suffered a stroke with cerebral hemorrhage on November 11th - and did not recover from it.

The career of the East Frisian living in Hamburg, who, like his comedian colleague Otto Waalkes, came from Emden, began in 1967 with the humorous-anarchist group Insterburg & Co (“I loved a girl”).

When the stupid group split up in 1979, Dall had already made contact with television.

In the 80s he was often on the program "Do you understand fun?"

- as the man at the film projector and the fun caller on the phone - at the side of the moderator couple Paola and Kurt Felix.

The stupid bard got his career going, especially in the mid-80s when he joined the newly founded private broadcaster RTL.

As an actor, he has appeared in front of the camera for numerous productions, including many comedies and erotic films such as "Sunshine Reggae on Ibiza" (1983).

Most recently he was occasionally in TV series such as “Notruf Hafenkante” and “Großstadtrevier”.

In 2017, Dall said goodbye to the touring stage after 50 years.

But he didn't want to retire, as he announced.
