It may also contain chemicals that are harmful to the environment.

The blades of grass in artificial turf are also made of plastic and may contain chemicals.

Alternative granules

But there are alternatives to rubber and plastic.

For example, organic materials such as coconut, cork and granules made from sugar cane.

- Coconut and cork can be said to be better from a climate perspective as they are fossil-free and not based on oil, says Pernilla Holgersson.
