In the summer of 2010, Finland discontinued its vaccination program when it was discovered that the vaccine developed the unusual neurological disease narcolepsy in some people.

Alarms were also sounded in Sweden.

In 2013, the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control estimated that the vaccination program had saved 44 lives.

At the same time, 440 children and adults receive compensation from the drug insurance because they developed narcolepsy due to the vaccine.
