The UAE chaired the work of the 21st meeting of the ministerial committee charged with following up on the implementation of decisions related to the joint work of the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, which was held from a distance using visual communication technology.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, who emphasized - at the beginning of his speech - that the rapid changes that the world is experiencing in various sectors have imposed challenges in the social and economic systems of the world as a whole. However, these challenges are an opportunity for joint action to support the process. Gulf growth and integration.

He said: “Gulf cooperation will be a catalyst for growth during the coming period. We have reasons and factors for success, and we hope through our efforts in such meetings to strengthen the frameworks for joint action and constructive cooperation, as Gulf integration in various fields and sectors gives us a great advantage. We take advantage of it in various Gulf business paths, in order to diversify and increase cooperation opportunities. ”

In the context of its agenda, a number of issues were reviewed during the meeting, on top of which is a report summarizing what the General Secretariat has done regarding the implementation of joint work decisions by member states, and the legislation and procedures that have been issued, in implementation of the decisions issued by the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, in all Areas of joint Gulf action.

The meeting also discussed a report on what has been achieved in the areas of the Gulf Common Market, and a draft mechanism to accelerate the ratification of regulations, laws and agreements approved by the Supreme Council.

The report of the Statistical Center of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf on the implementation of the third phase of the study measuring the extent of implementation of joint Gulf action decisions on the ground was also reviewed.

It is noteworthy that the Ministerial Committee discusses, on a regular basis, the implementation of all decisions related to the areas of joint Gulf action, and holds its meetings twice a year, prior to the semi-annual consultative meeting of the leaders of the GCC countries.
