According to the Euler Hermès study,

losses linked to the closure of

so-called “non-essential” businesses amounted to 4.4 billion euros for the month of November alone.

And if their curtains were to remain lowered in December, the shortfall could reach 10.8 billion euros.

The period leading up to the holidays is crucial for these traders.

November and December are the strongest months of the year for toy brands, which make 40% of their annual sales and 25% for bookstores, perfumeries or jewelry stores.

Towards a reopening on November 28?

In addition, the study emphasizes that the losses due to the first containment in the spring were not compensated for during the summer.

At the end of September, sales recorded since the start of the year were still 10% lower than the previous year.

Faced with the emergency, the executive presented a new health protocol on Friday morning.

Approved by a dozen trade federations, the text conditions the reopening of stores.

It could take place on Saturday, November 28, but to have confirmation, we will have to wait until Tuesday, November 24, the day Emmanuel Macron will speak.
