Facebook would force its moderators to come to the office in the midst of a pandemic

Facebook is accused of endangering its moderators.

The social network would force those responsible for monitoring and moderating content to return to work in the office in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, reveals the BBC relayed by Presse-Citron.

The American giant had however announced in August that its employees could telework until the summer of 2021. It is not the employees strictly speaking of Facebook who are here concerned, but the employees of subcontracting companies responsible for moderating the contents of the social network.

"You forced us to go back to the office"

More than 200 moderators signed an open letter to Facebook executives Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg and executives of the companies involved.

“After months of allowing content moderators to work from their homes, […] you forced us to go back to the office,” the letter denounces.

“Facebook needs us.

It is time for you to recognize this and appreciate our work, ”the moderators continued.

“It is immoral to sacrifice our health and safety for profit.

The signatories also take the opportunity to claim risk premiums or their integration into the workforce of Facebook in order to have the same advantages.
