The Dubai Health Authority recently launched the latest microbial and infection control laboratory in the region, which the authority provided with the best equipment, technologies and smart solutions, and provided it with specialized human competencies, to be the reference for examinations, monitoring and research of infectious diseases, especially tuberculosis.

The Microbial and Infection Control Laboratory, internationally accredited by the College of American Pathologists, is the only laboratory nationwide that provides the second-line TB drug resistance test.

The laboratory complies with the highest international standards, recommendations and protocols of the World Health Organization, and the range of its specialized services extends to include: microscopy, bacterial culture, tests for drug resistance detection, rapid molecular testing, and testing for tuberculosis detection, while the laboratory's capabilities for testing for tuberculosis and related diseases reach More than 130,000 examinations annually.

The Director General of the Authority, Humaid Al Qutami, confirmed that the launch of the microbial and infection control laboratory in its newly developed and developed model represents an important addition to the overall development and expansion work that the authority is witnessing, and the health sector in Dubai in general, stressing the interest of Dubai Health to continuously modernize its specialized laboratories. The reference, which is the approved basis, not only for its medical facilities, but for other health facilities and institutions at the district level.

He said that the authority's possession of this advanced laboratory enhances the prevention system, and efforts to monitor and control infectious diseases. At the same time, it supports the capabilities of Dubai Health in the field of research and studies, and increases its superiority in treating infectious diseases and other related diseases.
