In Indonesian Papua, an attempt was made to smuggle 74 parrots out of the island in plastic water bottles each.

According to AFP news agency on the 21st, police in West Papua Park Park announced that a box containing 74 black-capped lories parrots had been found on a ship on the morning of the 19th.

The colorful feathered Blackcap Lory Parrots inhabit the islands of New Guinea and adjacent islands.

The western half of New Guinea Island is Indonesian Papua, and the east is Papua New Guinea.

Each of the parrots was contained in a water bottle with a hole in it.

When the police pulled the parrot from the water bottle, 10 of the 74 were dead.

A police official said, "The ship's crew heard a strange sound and searched the ship to report that they found a box containing a parrot."

This is not the first attempt to smuggle a parrot in a water bottle.

In 2015, a criminal who was trying to smuggle in the same way was caught by the police, and in 2017, a party who tried to smuggle 125 animals into a pipe was caught.

Traffic (TRAFFIC), an illegal wildlife trade investigation group, said, "More than 130 species of endangered and rare birds inhabit the vast jungles of Indonesia. These birds are illegally traded on a fairly large scale."
