The preliminary Sami ballot paper is a thick tape that contains everyone registered in the ballot paper, including their personal data, close to 10,000 people.

This fuse has been sent as a regular letter by post all over Sweden, so not recommended.

- It may be that this has been handled in the wrong way.

I assume that those who have taken care of this document have done the same as they have done before and it may also be that they have not been aware of the change in the law, says Anita Kitok, acting chief of staff at the Sami Parliament.

"Extremely dubious treatment"

Until 15 December, the preliminary Sami voting record is in about 30 places in Sweden so that the public can review and appeal if it is considered that there are errors in it.

Sameradion & SVT Sápmi have called around to these municipalities and more than half of them confirm that the ballot paper has come as a regular letter.

GDPR expert David Frydlinger says that it is extremely doubtful to process such data in this way.

- To have a compilation of people who belong to the same ethnic group at all, who knows how it could be used, says David Frydlinger.
