The latest coronavirus report in France shows 48,265 dead on Friday evening, while the number of resuscitations and hospitalizations is still falling.

In total, 1,138 additional deaths were recorded in 24 hours, cumulating deaths in hospitals and nursing homes.

France now has 48,265 deaths from the coronavirus, or 1,138 more in the last 24 hours, according to data released on Friday.

This figure represents the cumulative number of deaths recorded in hospitals and nursing homes.

Reduced resuscitations and new hospital admissions

While the peak of the second wave has undoubtedly been crossed, according to the health agency, the noose continues to slowly loosen on the hospital.

The intensive care units were thus still occupied by 4,566 Covid patients on Friday, including 264 new admissions in 24 hours.

The day before, these services had 4,637 patients with Covid, including 311 new admissions.

In total, 31,875 people carrying the virus were hospitalized on Friday (regardless of the severity of their condition), against 32,314 the day before.

On the other hand, the number of new confirmed cases increased slightly to 22,882, against 21,150 cases of contamination the day before.

"Even if the indicators remain at high levels, their observation suggests that the epidemic peak of the second wave has been crossed", had underlined Public Health France (SpF) Friday morning in a press release accompanying its weekly epidemiological update.
