Last week, the government's proposal that alcohol sales be banned in restaurants and bars between 22.00 and 11.00.

Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren has, among other things, justified the decision by saying that people lose their judgment and neglect to keep their distance when drinking.

But the measure has aroused criticism, not least in the restaurant world.

- It is a decision that affects an industry significantly.

And of course you have some action for that.

But the important thing now is that you do not get the support in three months, but it must come immediately, says Stefan Wahlstrand who runs a restaurant in central Uppsala.

Questions the choice of time

Stefan Wahlstrand is also critical of the fact that 22.00 is the time chosen.

- 23 or 24 I think would have had the same effect on our guests, in terms of intoxication.

22.00 will affect our second sitting or our guests who want to sit for a while, he says.

Colleague Anders Törnkvist emphasizes that many in the restaurant industry have already taken safety measures, and believes that restaurants are therefore a safe place.

- We want to pull our straw to the pile, but then you can sometimes question whether these rules that go out are the best way.
