China News Agency, Kathmandu, November 19, Colombo: China’s new ambassador to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong, presented his credentials to Sri Lankan President Gotabaya on the 19th. The two sides had a cordial and friendly conversation on China-Sri Lanka relations.
Qi Zhenhong conveyed President Xi Jinping’s sincere greetings and best wishes to President Gotabaya, saying that since the first anniversary of his inauguration, Mr. President has led Sri Lanka on a path of stability and development, effectively responded to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, and fully demonstrated efficient governance and social solidarity .
China and Sri Lanka are good neighbors who watch and help each other, good friends of equality and mutual trust, and good partners of mutual benefit and win-win results.
The governments and peoples of the two countries shared weal and woe and helped each other to jointly fight the new crown pneumonia epidemic, which consolidated and sublimated China-Sri Lanka friendship.
It is a great honor for me to be the ambassador to Sri Lanka, and I am willing to fulfill my duties and do my best to promote China-Sri Lanka strategic partnership for greater development in the post-epidemic era.
President Gotabaya asked Qi Zhenhong to convey his heartfelt gratitude and cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping and warmly welcome Ambassador Qi to Sri Lanka.
Gotabaya said that Sri Lanka always bears in mind the firm support of China in its fight against terrorism, realize national reunification, and promote post-war reconstruction.
I have visited China 13 times. The most recent was a study visit in Wuhan two years ago. I witnessed the great achievements of China's reform and opening up and poverty alleviation.
Sri Lanka is willing to earnestly study China's development path and model, and strengthen cooperation with China in key areas related to people's livelihood, such as rural areas, science and technology, education, and investment.
Sri Lanka looks forward to working with the Ambassador to promote the “Belt and Road” construction of the two countries marked by the comprehensive development of the port city of Colombo and Hambantota to achieve more substantial results.
Before the meeting, Qi Zhenhong, accompanied by the Sri Lanka Concierge, reviewed the cavalry guard of honor and visited the Presidential Government House.
Qi Zhenhong arrived in Sri Lanka on the evening of October 30, and submitted a copy of his credentials to the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka on November 4, and the home isolation ended on November 13.
