Mats Åhlund (C), who is behind the proposal, hopes that the measure will be able to help crisis restaurants in corona times.

- Then I understand that this is not the medicine for all financial problems.

But it is a contribution and a good signal that we are behind the business in Uppsala, he says.

Delivery of alcohol to the door has, however, received criticism, including from the sobriety organization IOGT-NTO, which believes that it violates the Alcohol Act.

Both the Social Democrats, the Green Party and the Liberals in Uppsala have opposed the proposal.

But Mats Åhlund believes that microcatering can be carried out in an orderly manner.

- For example, the person who delivers alcohol can see who is going to consume this and make an assessment.

Exactly how this is to be done, we have commissioned the environmental administration to investigate.

Dichotomous opinions

However, the restaurateurs themselves are not convinced.

- The Alcohol Act is about someone having to control who buys, and here on site we can do it.

But at home it will be difficult.

I would like to sell some alcohol to those who come to us and take home take away, because then I can check that it is 18 years old.

But if you use a home delivery service, I do not really think it will work, says Stefan Wahlstrand who runs a restaurant in central Uppsala.
